This newsletter is written by me, Fran Liberatore, and challenges our cultural norms and assumptions about children's autonomy, consent, education & care work.
I talk about dismantling adultism and respecting children. About centering consent at home and everywhere. About mothering, feminism, anti-capitalism, and generally pushing back on a narrative of “might is right.”
I zoom out and look at the way that we live, parent and show up in community is political and revolutionary, and how we cannot do it alone.
I’m an early childhood educator, a grad student in Education, an unschooler, a mother of two - and a writer ;)
What to expect
Here’s what to expect as a free subscriber:
A weekly or fortnightly free post on topics ranging from unschooling to children’s liberation to challenging assumptions around education to consent!
A bit like this one on learning to read but make it unschooly, or this one on why consent is not the least of our problems.
All of this content will be absolutely free, and I appreciate you making allowances for it to shift, change and sometimes just not happen!
If you have the capacity to support me, please consider it - it tells me you value me and my work.
And if you really want a paid sub but it’s outside of your capabilities right now, reach out. I give them away for free, no questions asked ;)
Paid members can expect the following:
2 paid posts monthly that discuss a topic around living without school or consent-based parenting, but also youth rights, adultism, divesting from systems and more: these posts includes resources, recommendations and links, and more practical information on the many ways this can look like.
A monthly Day in the Life post, or a monthly video.
Sometimes, I make an audio version of my paid posts, read by me, as an extra perk :)(you will find this under ‘Podcasts’).
A monthly zoom chat to discuss, seek and offer support, share experiences (these are not recorded to ensure privacy).
What matters to me.
I’d love this newsletter to be a resource and support for anyone who is engaging in the act of partnering with young people, and also questioning the inheritance of coercion and domination we are all born shouldering.
In other words, we can care for and love and live with our children, and all children, in radically different ways.
Sometimes it ends up in your junk mail.
It looooves to end up there.. so keep an eye out for it and add it to your contact list.
