Maybe what we need is learning neutrality

Maybe what we need is learning neutrality

Divison of Responsibility, and is it a bit like eclectic homeschooling? Also, zoom call info, is school like jail, and individualistic v. collective goals.

Hello friends,

this is my Weekend post for paid members, and here’s what’s coming up:

I’ll start a little chat thread on Division of Responsibility in eating and learning (because like, there is so much to talk about here!!) as well as share some thoughts on the way food (and learning) is morally neutral.

Then I have potential dates & times for this month’s zoom meeting, and we can vote on a theme!

And last but not least, my usual links & shares - what I’m reading, listening to, watching, and what is radicalizing me this week.

Yes, crochet is still very much an obsession here.

Before I proceed, I’ve been thinking really hard about how to distinguish my free content and my paid content on here, and while this isn’t really a clear-cut distinction, I am hoping that my long essays and podcasts will be more along the lines of a critique and discourse on topics of parenting, education, unschooling and more; and my paid content will be more of a way for me to share my personal experiences, struggles, realizations and facilitate conversations around what it means to live counter-cultural lives.

If you think a paid subscription might benefit you, please consider signing up and supporting my work.

If in doubt, or if you could benefit from bartering or a comp membership, you can now message me on here!

Yesterday I posted some slides to Instagram, kind of on a whim. I tried to link them here but I can’t open my own IG page on my laptop today, which is highly suspicious because usually I have no issue with it. But anyway.

Basically I questioned why the Division of Responsibility model of feeding is gaining a lot of traction in some parenting circles, and why we can’t apply a similar lens to learning?

I wanted to go a little deeper into this because, based on some of the responses I got, I’m a) not sure DOR is actually that well-known, or not as mainstream as I assumed it to be (thanks echo chamber!) and b) there are still issues with this model.
